Adoration

The Three Wise Men whose relics are in Cologne came to pay homage to the Lord. It is a certain spiritual inheritance that there are chapels for Eucharistic Adoration throughout the Archdiocese.

Cologne

At the Maternus House in downtown Cologne, for example, there is a perpetual adoration chapel which can be visited day and night. Sign-up for a specific time or make a spontaneous visit to the Lord.

Bonn

“24 Hours for the Lord” is a joint initiative of the English and French chaplaincies for Eucharistic adoration in Bad Godesberg at St. Andrew's Church. From 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. there is an hour with songs and prayers in English.

Adoration takes place once a month. It begins on a Thursday after the 9:30 a.m. Mass in St. Andreas, Andreasstr. 1, Bonn-Rüngsdorf and ends on Friday at 9 a.m. with a Holy Mass. Confession is available from 5:00-6:00 p.m., and the hours alternate between structured prayer, the Liturgy of the Hours and silence.

Adoration means an exchange between the creature and its Creator. Adoration is a real encounter with a counterpart: Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, who is love incarnate and a personal you. He is the one who knows and loves every person and who is always waiting for us. This relationship changes us and with us the world.

In these 24 hours, we would like to pray especially for the Church. We can bring our gratitude, our worries and concerns and the needs of the time before the Lord.

Anyone who would like to take on a prayer time should please sign up on the new list that is created every month. We are happy if at least two people pray before the Lord at any one time.

The Three Wise Men

Chaplaincy Logo

Our logo shows the Three Wise Men as they come bearing gifts to adore the newborn King. He is in the arms of his mother, Mary. The three communities of our chaplaincy - Bonn, Cologne and Dusseldorf - are also gather before Christ Our King. May Mary, Our Mother too, teach us to adore this child.

Our logo is taken from the oldest depiction, ca. 3rd Century, of the Three Wise Men found in the Catacombs of St. Priscilla in Rome.
